Overgrown nails are more than a cosmetic issue — they can change your dog's gait, cause splayed toes, and lead to joint pain and posture problems over time. When nails are too long, they push back into the nail bed with every step, which forces your dog to shift their weight unnaturally. Signs that your dog's nails are overdue for a trim include clicking sounds on hard floors, nails that visibly curve or touch the ground when your dog is standing, and your dog slipping on tile or hardwood surfaces. Our nail service includes careful clipping to a safe length followed by a Dremel grind to smooth sharp edges and round the nail. The grinding step is important — it reduces the risk of scratching furniture, floors, and skin, and it gives a much cleaner finish than clipping alone. Many dogs that are fearful of traditional nail clippers actually tolerate the Dremel grind much better because there is no sudden pressure or snapping sensation. We work slowly and gently with every dog. For anxious dogs, we use treats, take breaks, and never rush. The calm, private environment of the mobile grooming van makes a huge difference compared to a noisy salon. Most dogs need a nail trim every 3 to 4 weeks. If your dog walks frequently on concrete or asphalt, their nails may wear down naturally and require less frequent trims. Dogs that spend most of their time indoors or on grass typically need trims on the more frequent end. A quick nail trim appointment takes just 15 to 30 minutes, making it one of the easiest services to fit into a busy schedule.
